Celebrate Ball Perkins Park’s reopening this Saturday!

We’re excited to share that the City of Grand Rapids will host a small reopening celebration at Ball Perkins Park this Saturday. This event marks the completion of $528,044 in park improvements, including a new parking lot, nature play area, crushed stone trail and a rain garden featuring native plantings.

When: Saturday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Ball Perkins Park parking lot near 1308 Plymouth Ave NE

Ball Perkins Park is a cherished space for people of all ages, offering trails, wooded areas and opportunities for connection. These improvements were guided by community feedback highlighting the need for safe parking and welcoming green spaces.

Please join folks from our Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, and the North East Citizens Action Association at the celebration. The event will include brief remarks, a birding activity hosted by the Grand Rapids Audubon Club and free ice cream while supplies last.
