City unveils Donald Williams Sr. Legacy Room at MLK Community Center

This past Saturday, our City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, together with the Williams family, unveiled the newly dedicated Donald Williams Sr. Legacy Room at the MLK Community Center.

The ceremony brought together family members, friends, neighborhood leaders and residents to honor Mr. Williams’s life, his decades of service and the profound impact he had on our community. For more than 20 years, he championed the vision of a youth center at Martin Luther King Park, a space where young people could learn, connect and grow. His advocacy played a vital role in shaping the MLK Community Center as it stands today.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined in celebrating Mr. Williams’s legacy and the continued investment in spaces that support and uplift our youth.
