City upgrades Outdoor Warning Siren System and begins year-round testing this Friday
This Friday at noon, the City of Grand Rapids will conduct its monthly outdoor warning siren test as part of a new year-round testing schedule. Previously conducted only from April through October, these tests will now occur on the first Friday of every month.
The City recently upgraded its siren system with new geofencing technology that allows alerts to be targeted to neighborhoods within one mile of a National Weather Service-identified threat area, improving accuracy and reliability during severe weather and other outdoor emergencies.
Please help share this information with your networks so residents and visitors know to expect the three-minute siren test at noon on Friday.
