Grand Rapids has once again been recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, marking its 28th year earning the honor.

The Arbor Day Foundation named Grand Rapids a 2025 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow and maintain trees to benefit its community. This is the 28th year the City has received this recognition.This milestone celebrates the community’s long‑standing commitment to planting, caring for and protecting our urban forest. Thanks to the dedication of neighbors, volunteers and partners like Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, the city’s tree canopy has grown to 37%, providing nearly $372,000 in annual environmental benefits through cleaner air, carbon storage and stormwater management.
