River transformation begins & fireworks safety guidelines

As we enter into the holiday weekend, I’m reaching out with two important updates from the City.

Crews are now entering the river to remove four low‑head dams between Bridge Street and Fulton Street, marking a major milestone in restoring the city’s namesake rapids. Second, as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the City is reminding residents to enjoy the holiday season safely. Fireworks use is regulated by a City ordinance aligned with state law, and violations carry a $1,000 civil fine. The City has outlined permitted dates and times for fireworks and shared safety tips to help prevent accidents and keep neighborhoods peaceful. (Read more here)
