This morning, we officially launched Renew Grand Rapids, a new food scrap pilot program that turns household food waste into compost and helps reduce greenhouse gases. You can now sign up to drop off food scraps at seven secure, Bluetooth‑enabled bins located across the city. The community helped choose each bin location, and compost made from the collected material will be redistributed to residents at no cost. This pilot supports the City’s climate action goals and builds on earlier work that tested food scrap collection at municipal sites.
